In this current troubled economic period, many people have had to trim their budgets to make ends meet. Many people think that eating at fancy restaurants is one activity they have to eliminate from their budget. Fortunately, there are things you can do to greatly reduce your restaurant bill if you dine at a fancy restaurant.
1. The most expensive time to eat at a fancy restaurant is during the evening. To get a much cheaper meal, have lunch at an expensive restaurant. Most restaurants offer scaled down meals at lunch time at a much cheaper price. It is important to find out when the lunch hours end and dinner hours begin so you don’t end up paying for a dinner meal.
2. Many fancy restaurants will offer special promotions in the newspaper where they will provide a coupon for a discount on a dinner. Make sure you check the local newspaper to see if there are any special discounts being offered by a fancy restaurant.
3. Some fancy restaurants will offer a type of “happy hour” such as between 4:00pm and 6:00pm. During this time they will offer inexpensive items from their regular menu. This type of promotion may be offered in a lounge area.
4. Many fancy restaurants will offer brunch on certain days such as Sunday. They may have a buffet or special discounts on meals. These meals are usually much cheaper than their standard dinner meals. Don’t forget about cheap breakfast and brunch menus on during the off-season.
5. Fancy restaurants will have delicious appetizers. You can orders several different appetizers and share them with a friend or spouse.
6. Share the entree with the person you are dining with. Entrees can often be such dishes as a platter of different types of food such as seafood.
7. Considering drinking water instead of soda or alcohol. These beverages are expensive so drinking only water will cut down on the price of the meal. You can squeeze a little lemon in it for flavor.
8. If it is possible, order and eat an appetizer before you place your order. You will then be somewhat full and will be less likely to order more food than you need.
9. Desserts at a fancy restaurant can be very expensive. You can cut down on your dining bill if you cut out the desserts.
10. A great way to make the most out of an expensive meal is to take leftovers home. If you have enough food, you will have a meal at home the next day. Consider this option when reviewing the menu.
11. Eat a snack before you go to the restaurant. Such food as carrot or apple pieces will satisfy some hunger so you won’t over order. Consider it an appetizer.
Eating at a fancy restaurant does not have to blow your monthly budget. Just practice a couple of cost cutting tips and you can have a great meal at a great price.

Who doesn’t love lasagna! The key to making an awesome lasagna is to use fresh ingredients. I also like lasagna from fancy restaurants. You know the kind I’m talking about, where they make 1 serving of lasagna at a time and the ingredients are really fresh…the noodles stick to the sauce (instead of sliding away from each other). Great cheese, great meat, great sauce and it all leads to a great lasagna.
The dish is believed to have originated in Italy. However, the term “lasagna” comes from the Greeks. The Italians used the word to refer to the dish in which lasagna is made. It wasn’t long before the name of the food took on the name of the serving dish.
Adding to the confusion about the origin of lasagna, the recipe was featured in the first cookbook ever written in England, leading to an urban legend that the dish originated in the British Isles.
With lasagna, it’s all about the cheese…some lasagna recipes have multiple cheeses, most often ricotta and mozzarella. Traditional mozzarella is made in southern Italy, so the use of these two cheeses is typical of lasagna made in Naples or further south.
One type of lasagna is lasagna alla Bolognese, which uses parmigiano reggiano, bolognese sauce and nutmeg flavored sauce. Not many know that nutmeg is used in some versions of lasagna, but nutmeg adds a nice touch to any lasagna. Another version of lasagna is classic bologna, which is made with lasagna verdi, which includes spinach.
Outside of Italy, there are many different types of lasagna…especially in the United States and North America. From artichoke spinach lasagna to spicy chipotle lasagna and everything in between. Since the ingredients are easily interchangeable, it’s pretty easy to experiment with different types of vegetables.
In the United States, rippled sheets of pasta are common, but not in Northern Italy. In Northern Italy, rippled pasta sheets are typically made of durum or hard wheat which repels sauces ” the ripples are designed to hold the sauce better. Emilia-Romagna egg pasta, which is made with soft wheat and drinks up the lasagna sauce and does not need the help of rippling.

If you begin to look for Italian cheeses, you will find more than four hundred varieties. Most of the time, we only think of four cheeses as we think of Italian foods.
Many people only think of the cheeses used in Americanized Italian foods. That includes mozzarella which is used in pizza, Parmesan used to sprinkle over spaghetti, provolone used in a sandwich, and ricotta used in lasagna.
In addition to the limited numbers of Italian cheeses we do eat, what we often find in the grocery store is nothing like the cheeses of Italy.
It may come as a surprise to you that the mozzarella that we often eat has no resemblance to Italian mozzarella. In Italy, mozzarella is made from the milk of the water buffalo. It is a fresh cheese that should be consumed within a few days of preparation. It does not have the long shelf life of the mozzarella we use that is made from cows milk. A lightly salted slice of fresh mozzarella is said to be a great complement to freshly baked bread. A common salad is made by combining slices of mozzarella with slices of tomatoes and dressing with basil and olive oil.
Of course it does not take a genius to recognize that the dried stuff in a shaker can is nowhere near the parmesan cheese of Italy. There parmigiano is prepared, pressed into cheese cloth and allowed to ripen for a full two years before being freshly grated and served.
Provolone is used as a table cheese in Italy. This cheese is also made from whole cows milk. The finished cheese is aged at least four months. The loaf is traditionally in a pear shape.
Another fresh cheese is ricotta. This cheese is easily made and dated back to Roman times. Made for whole milk, the cheese is sweet and often used in preparing deserts. If you want a real ricotta experience rather then watery, sour, part-skim ricotta sold by your grocer, try making your own. You will need cream, whole milk, salt and lemon juice. The first three ingredients are boiled together and the lemon juice is added to cause the mixture to curdle. The ricotta is allowed to drain through cheese cloth for about ah hour and drained until firm. Use the finished product within the next couple of days.
In Italy, Italians do not buy cheese at a grocery store but at a dairy store. Many of these stores make their own cheeses. This means that the fresh cheeses such as mozzarella or ricotta that is purchased may have been made earlier during the day.
There are many other Italian cheeses available. Some are local to one region. Italian blue cheese, veined like Roquefort, is said to be an excellent choice to melt with butter and garlic to serve over pasta.
The best way to experience many of the local cheeses of Italy is by spending time in the country. Experiment and find the cheeses that you like. When back home, you may not be able to find the exact cheese, but for many of the hard cheeses you will be able to order imports.

Weight Reduction Is Massive… It’s essential to grasp that the business of slimming is exactly that – a very profitable market. Several billion dollars of diet products are purchased every year.
Just How Much of a Problem Is There Then? Whether you personally are obese or not, the chances are you’d be happy to lose some weight. It’s now believed that in the USA alone, around seventy percent of people are too heavy. Which amounts to some two hundred and ten million folks… But overseas it’s not much better – a startling sixty percent! It’s a sorry state of affairs.
In Great Britain, it’s estimated that one quarter of the adult population is at least 30-40 pounds overweight. But look at this – It might be around twenty five per cent now, but it could be ninety per cent by the middle of the century.
And yet why should it be that way? No-one wants this trend to continue. Sensible dietary advice is the key – not expensive products that line the pockets of big business.
Obesity can increase the risk of a number of diseases and ailments, such as – High Blood Pressure, Liver Disease, High Cholesterol, Osteoarthritis, Sleep Apnoea, Heart Disease and Heart Failure, Cancer, Type Two Diabetes & Problems with Mental Health. And so we’re not just out to look cuter – we’re out to preserve our health.
Reducing your weight and getting into good physical shape is more important than being thin. In truth, we most likely have a gut feel for the weight that works best for our body.
We should also teach our kids about good health. If we’re being responsible parents, we have to show them with our actions. Keep doing the same thing, and both you and the kids will have to live with the consequences. Which mom and pop wants that?
So we have to understand the basics about nutrition – it’s just as important to know what’s good for us as it is to know what’s bad. It’s only when we’ve got a handle on healthy eating ourselves that we can teach it to others. Let’s be honest, our children’s children could escape obesity if we put the right habits into the family today.

Whether you live in California or you are heading out for a visit, you simply have to take the time for a Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives California road trip. With several locations within a reasonable distance of each other, you can make your next trip out to California about much more than the beach.
So how do you do it? Obviously you don’t have control over the Food Network programming schedule. Watching a marathon isn’t exactly the same as creating your own. Laying out the various towns, stops, eateries, and of course, dives that Guy has brought into your living room and into your life gives you the real life version.
Using the Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives series to map out your next road trip can be more fun than mapping out a vacation destination. This way you end up driving through some of the most unique parts of the country that you otherwise wouldn’t have visited.
The more you start to know about food the more you’ll get out of creating your very own Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives marathon. Whether you take a week or a month to walk in Guy’s footsteps, knowing what good food is and being able to recognize special foods and places will help you experience the journey with a great deal of appreciation.
The best of the best is all you can expect when you follow Guy Fieri and the Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives locations. As a point to point vacation, you can cover a great deal of unusual or neat towns that offer you a new view into different regional cultures throughout our country.
One of the benefits of taking a Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives California style is that you have a chance to meet some of the neatest people you’ll ever know. The phrase California hospitality isn’t just a catch phrase, but it is derived from the friendly nature of those who live in the state.
Meeting them and letting them know that you’re taking the Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives California tour will open up a new dimension of the trip for you. The people you’ll meet this way can open doors of friendship and give you a new perspective on your entire trip.
Plotting out a true adventure that brings the Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives right into your reality is like going on a treasure hunt. The treasure in this case just happens to be treasures of the culinary variety. These can be the best of treasures as it is both a joyful surprise and a welcome find all at once. If you can figure out how to share it with your family, then your treasure is really truly golden.

When I began having pains in an area next to my stomach, I had to go to the doctor and get help. Fortunately, it was not as bad. There were a good number of problems with my liver, but not enough to require hospitalization. In fact, I was able to go back home the same night. I was on medication for a couple of weeks, and when I completed it, I was instructed to go through a detox program.
I must admit that I was not exactly thrilled about it, but having escaped surgery, I decided not to take any chances, so I followed the detox program to the letter.
The first days of the detox program were the hardest. I was particularly affected by the fact that I couldn’t eat red meat. I employed to eat meat almost daily, and having it taken away so suddenly was hard on me. Almost as bad was the prohibition of alcohol. More than once I was tempted to drink, but then I forced myself to remember the pain I had felt just a few weeks before and that somewhat assisted. I stopped hanging out with my friends for a bit, so as to reduce temptation.
On the other hand, having to do exercise was the most fun part of the whole detox program. At first it was difficult, but when I joined a group that played basketball, I in reality got into it. The first games I could not hold more than a quarter without having to call it quits. Nevertheless, I liked the competitive part of the sport and I kept trying harder and harder. Although I never became a great player, I began to look forward to each game, just for the fun of it. Today, I can outrun anyone else at the office, though its not a skill that my boss particularly values.
One of the parts of the detox program that I had trouble complying with was receiving enough sleep. Since the detox program did not include taking sick leave, I had to continue working and catch up with my tasks. And when I arrived home I Regularly felt like embarking to bed early was a waste of time that could have been used on watching TV or reading or spending time with my children. Fortunately, my wife was very supportive and took care of the children while I got a good number of extra sleep.
By the end of the detox program, I felt like a completely different person. In fact, I kept a good number of the habits that I picked up with the detox program, like playing basketball. Except now I play with my children on weekends only. I keep drinking water, and Although I began drinking and eating red meat again, the quantities I consume now are much more moderate than what I employed to consume in the past.
But most vitally, I feel good knowing that my liver is much less likely to fail and suffer a severe disease. I truly recommend the experience to everybody who wishes to feel better and dwell lengthier for the sake of his or her family.

Wine glasses are very essential in the wine tasting experience. In order to properly taste the wine, you must have the correct wine glass. Wine glasses were designed the way they are shaped on purpose.
Red wine glasses all consist of these three components: base, shorter stem, and a wide bowl and mouth. The bowl is shaped to create the bouquet of the wine to enhance the flavor. The mouth of the red wine glass is wide so that it allows you to sip the wine allowing you to taste it at the front of your palette.
The surface area of the red wine glass is large to allow the wine to evaporate, allowing for a bold aroma. What is red wine without its bold characteristics and taste? The bowl was created large to also encourage holding the glass by the bowl, warming the red wine so it can be consumed at the temperature it is meant to be drank at.
White wine glasses are encompassed of the same components as the red wine glasses with a few differences in size and shape. White wine is a much more delicate wine and the white wine glass has a tall and narrow bowl in order to focus the bouquet directly. The stem of the white wine glass is also taller, allowing for the consumer to hold the glass by the stem which allows the white wine to stay at the preferred cooler temperatures.
The white wine glass has a smaller mouth than a red wine glass which makes you tilt your head back in order to drink it. White wine is meant to be tasted towards the back of your palette. The part of the palette where you taste the wine is important to the wine tasting experience.
Champagne, yet another type of wine, also boasts its very own glass design. The perfect champagne glass is called a flute. Flute glasses are very tall and narrow which maintains the effervescence and bubbles for much longer than any other shape of glass.
As you can see, wine glasses serve the dual purpose of being a vessel to hold your wine and to also to create the perfect taste. Each type of wine will have its own special glass that should be used to enjoy the taste and smell to the fullest. Wine can also be paired with food to create an even greater experience.
White wine goes beautifully with all types of seafood. Red wine can be paired wonderfully with red meat and even chocolate! Experiment with wine to find your perfect combination, but just remember to use the right wine glasses!

Outdoor cooking is demanding in itself. More so if you are not geared up with the things you could do with. Fantastic tasting meals can and will be enjoyed for the duration of your trip with these easy tips.
Recipes: The best tip any experienced outdoor cook will offer is to plan your meals and collect your recipes ahead of heading out. Umpteen recipes simply can’t be done in the campground and you don’t want to be ready to eat before you find out this information. Choose recipes that don’t necessitate special kitchen equipment due to the fact that these will not be obtainable.
Ziploc Bags: Food storage bags are another wonderful tool to use for easy meal preparation. Precutting all your ingredients before you go eliminates the need to clean up a mess at the campground. To make it even easier you can try using big storage bags to hold all the ingredients for each recipe.
Coolers: Unless you are planning on running to the local supplies shop before every meal you will wish to bring along a cooler to keep things fresh. Things like meats and vegetables can’t be left out in the heat and without them meals would be quite boring. Coolers additionally provide you the ability to keep leftovers instead of tossing them out. These are also excellent for snacking between meals.
Foil Packets: Foil cooking is probably the simplest and most hassle free method of outdoor cooking you can do. Even more so if you are a beginner. Foil recipes simply need the ingredients thrown into the packet then laid on hot coals to cook whilst you spend time doing something fun. Your imagination can really be shown with this technique owing to the fact that you may throw in nearly anything. Heavy duty aluminum foil is a good idea.
Snacks: Don’t leave home without snacks unless you want to spend the majority of your time cooking for your friends and family. Staying energetic outdoors can take a toll on the body and leave everyone struggling to get through until the next meal. Carry along snacks that will give energy such as fruits and trail mixes just don’t forget to store the perishables in the cooler.
Outdoor cooking can be easy as well as a enjoyable and exhilarating experience providing you are prepared. Don’t be afraid to attempt new things. After all, it’s meant to be an adventure.
