Pondering Green Mountain Coffee Pods With The Other Products
One of the more popular brands of coffee pods available, Green Mountain Coffee Pods aren’t really coffee pods at all. They are, in fact, K-Cups. This is to say they only work in Keurig’s K-Cup brewers. So, if you are looking for regular coffee pods, stop right there, because you won’t find any such offerings from Green Mountain. However, if you’re interested in a new brand of K-Cup to try in your Keurig brewer, than read on.
Green Mountain Coffee Is Quite Green
With a name like green mountain, you would think that the company was rather old and from Ireland or something. In reality, Green Mountain Coffee was founded in Vermont in 1981. This makes them very new to the coffee world, especially with older companies having been around since the mid 1800s. The company actually started as a tiny cafe in rural Waitsfield, Vermont, where they roasted and served coffee. It didn’t take long before local restaurants began clamoring to buy Green Mountain Coffee to serve in their own establishments.
How Green Mountain Differs
In such a competitive industry, that Green Mountain Coffees grew so fast is nothing short of amazing. So, how did they manage to make such an impact? It probably had a lot to do with their strange mixture of selections and flavors. Since the big guys pretty much have your average decaf and house blend type offerings locked up, Green Mountain Coffees went a completely different direction. Some of their blends are fairly mundane, with breakfast blend, French roast, and “Our Blend”, which is their version of original, mixed in with their greater than 100 various coffees.
Will Green Mountain Coffees Work In My Pod Coffee Maker?
Green Mountain Coffee only makes Keurig K-Cups, so they won’t fit in a standard brewer. They’ll likely never make a standard coffee pod, like what’s used in pod coffee makers in the Home Cafe coffee pod machine. This is due to the fact that Green Mountain Coffees acquired Keurig a few years ago. Since that transaction went down in 2006, it may be a fair assumption that Green Mountain Coffees just might be the sole reason that K-Cups have succeeded at all. Of course, if you can make coffee pods on your own using loose coffee and a filter, then you can purchase loose coffee from them and go that route.
Does Green Mountain Make Anything Other Than Coffee?
Green Mountain does have products other than coffees, although only a few actually bear the Green Mountain Coffee label. Under the Celestial Seasonings label, they offer various teas, while under the Cafe Escapes label, there are a few different types of hot chocolate. None of these offerings are available as anything other than K-Cups, however.
